Oil-based or water-based, the short answer

Both formulas are body-safe and made without alcohol, glycerin, petroleum, parabens, gluten, phthalates, fragrances, or dyes. The one difference that decides it for most people is condoms.

The water-based formula is compatible with latex and non-latex condoms. The oil-based formula is not compatible with latex condoms, because oils break latex down. If you use latex condoms, choose water-based.

Coconu Oil-Based Lubricant

USDA Certified Organic through CCOF, with a silky texture that melts into skin. It is edible, and it doubles as a massage oil.

Safe with toys, including silicone toys. Not compatible with latex condoms.

Best for: partners who are not using latex condoms, anyone who wants a richer, cushioned feel, and anyone who wants one product that works for massage too.

Compatible with latex and non-latex condoms, and with toys.

Best for: anyone using latex condoms, a lighter feel, and the easiest cleanup.
